Grace to move towards the future Series 1
The grace that comes at every moment as I move into the future is guaranteed. A key verse for me to understand this is 1 Corinthians 15:10, where Paul says:
“By the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace towards me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, even if it was not me, but the grace of God who is with me”.
Now, if you stop and think about it, it means that minute by minute, we are moving forward by the grace of God. But do we work alone? No, he said, “I work hard, but it is not me but the grace of God.” So, when does this grace of God come? It comes at any time in our life.
So, thinking about what I’m going to face in five minutes, or enduring another day of challenge, or a difficult marriage, I shouldn’t think that I’m going to be alone to endure these things. There will be sufficient grace for every action at every moment, as it says in 2 Corinthians 9: 8. “God gives us grace for every good action.”
The grace to move forward into the future is therefore the power, the provision, the mercy, the wisdom of God and any other resource that I need – everything we need – to do what He wants us to do in five minutes, five weeks, five months, five years and five thousand years.
That grace is available and begins now, this very second, and sustains your life to the end. God makes it available to us.
